The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications
Words of the Angel to the Little Shepherds of Fatima in 1916
With this simple but very heartfelt letter I would like to greet you in the name of all the members of the Institute of the Incarnate Word on this Mother’s Day and express to you our very sincere affection and thanksgiving.
To the more than 500 mothers and women who are scattered in more than twenty countries, who rend the sky with their prayers to bring down on us a shower of blessings: Thank you so much!
Thank you because you have understood that, as Saint Peter Julian Eymard says, “Eucharistic Adoration is most necessary for the mission of the Church” and it is inestimable the benefits that God has deigned to grant us by attending to your prayers.
Thank you for your more than 1500 hours of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament during these past three months. Our beloved Saint John Paul II used to say that the “priestly, religious, and missionary vocations spring fourth from a Holy Hour” and God in His infinite Mercy has been pleased to entrust us with 432 vocations, actual and in formation, for the Institute of the Incarnate Word (139 of who are new vocations).
Thank you all because with great love and in the midst of work and daily activities no matter where you found yourselves, you addressed prayers to the very Heart of the Incarnate Word, collaborating in this way with His redemptive mission. Thanks to your prayers how many weak souls have been strengthened, how many temptations have been chased away, how many persecutions extinguished, how much support for the missionary who would otherwise be discouraged, how much new and magnanimous impetus for firm and faithful souls.
For all of this and so much more which your motherly love inspires you to do for us: today we want to offer you with great affection an hour before the Blessed Sacrament and remember all of you and your families in the celebration of Holy Mass wherever our members can be found.
May the Virgen of Fatima bless you and guard you within her Immaculate Heart.
Happy Mother’s Day to all!
In the Incarnate Word,
Fr. Gustavo Nieto, IVE
